Burness Paull acted for the 2nd and 3rd defendants in the High Court claim: Manek & Ors v IIFL Wealth (UK) Ltd & Ors [2019] EWHC 3361 (Comm).

The claim focussed on the circumstances surrounding the sale of shares in Indian company Hermes i-Tickets Private Ltd (India’s No. 1 Retail Assisted E-Commerce network). The 2nd and 3rd defendants were the founders and (before the sale) majority stakeholders in Hermes.

Sam Moore, Innovation Manager at Burness Paull, has been awarded ‘Accredited Legal Technologist’ status by the Law Society of Scotland (LSS).

The new professional standard is the first of its kind in the UK and was launched to reflect the growing impact of technology within the legal sector - and with it the emergence of specialist roles such as legal process engineer, legal analyst, and legal technologist.

We are delighted to have played a leading role in relation to UK-based independent oil & gas company Savannah Petroleum plc’s transformational deal to acquire the assets of Seven Energy in Nigeria.

Burness Paull advised on the corporate and capital-markets aspects of this complex transaction, which involved a US$125 million equity fundraising.
